Dear Colleague,

The number of published orthopaedic articles has been increasing over the last decade. While the number of orthopedic articles, journals publication, and funding sources were dominated by research conducted in North America, share and growth of Asian-Pacific countries were notable. It reflects the growing importance of Asian-Pacific region in the field of orthopedic surgery.

APKASS is key to the scientific development of arthroscopy, knee surgery and orthopedic sports medicine. And we have forged a solid partnership with the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS), European Society of Sports Traumatology Keen Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA), American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) and Latin American Society of Knee Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine (SLARD).

But there is much more to do. We need to not only consolidate our existing sections, but also accommodate new emerging fields. In the near future, we will see significant advances in tissue engineering, 3D printing, computer-assisted surgery, mobile diagnostics, and robotics.

I hope APKASS achieves leading advancement in the future with great efforts of all members.
